| Thomas L. Doherty | ||||||
|
After receiving a degree in Business Management from Northern Illinois University, Mr. Doherty worked for Allstate Insurance Company and Baxter Laboratories. Mr. Doherty was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1966. He left the corporate world in 1975 to become an owner of a real estate brokerage business in DeKalb, Illinois. In 1986, Mr. Doherty graduated from the Northern Illinois University College of Law. He now maintains a law practice and partnership with his son, Mark Doherty, with offices in DeKalb and St. Charles, Illinois. A large portion of his practice is devoted to real estate. Mr. Doherty works with his legal assistant, Christine Bennett, and his secretary, Heather Grandt. Mr. Doherty is a licensed real estate pre-licensing and continuing education instructor. Mr. Doherty has served on the board of directors of Opportunity House and the Kishwaukee Family YMCA. He presently serves on the City of DeKalb Fire and Police Commission. He has been active in the DeKalb Barb Boosters and the Northern Illinois University Huskie Club. He is a member of the DeKalb County and Illinois Bar Associations and the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers’ Association. On a personal note, Mr. Doherty has four children, four grandchildren, and lives with his wife, Jill Doherty, in DeKalb. He is active in his community and is an avid racquetball player. His Harley Davidson is ready to roll when time and weather permit. |

Upon graduating with a finance degree from Eastern Illinois University, where he was an Academic All Conference member of the varsity football team, Mr. Doherty attended Northern Illinois University College of Law. He was a published member of the Law Review, research assistant to his civil procedure professor, and law clerk to the General Counsel of the University. Mr. Doherty graduated cum laude in 2000. Thereafter, he was an associate attorney at a law firm in Naperville, Illinois, focusing on the representation of condominium and homeowners associations as well as general civil litigation. Beginning in January 2004, Mr. Doherty teamed up with his father, Tom Doherty, with whom he now maintains a law practice and partnership with offices in DeKalb and St. Charles, Illinois. Mr. Doherty’s practice focuses on civil litigation and transactions, trusts and estates, probate, real estate, and condominium law. He practices primarily in Kane, DuPage, and DeKalb Counties and he is a member of their respective Bar Associations, in addition to the Illinois Bar Association. On a personal note, Mr. Doherty is married to Lisa Doherty, who is a school teacher in Wheaton, Illinois, where they reside with their daughter. He is a performing musician who has written and produced five full-length albums. |
